Look for the things that show up on the roof ten years later: crews who specialize in your material (walking clay tile or slate wrong breaks it), fabrication done in-house rather than ordered out, proof of insurance you can verify with a certificate, real local projects you can look at, and a written scope that names the underlayment and flashing — not just the surface material. We welcome all five questions.

At minimum, general liability and workers’ compensation — and any contractor should hand you a certificate of insurance on request rather than just saying “we’re covered.” (Texas has no state roofing license, so insurance and track record are what actually separate contractors.)
